Trapped

Thick fog

dense

Nothing penetrates

A smile flitters past

hanging within reach –

Paused, suspended

But only for a second

You reach out

It’s too late

Then

A fit of giggles

Desperate,

You reach out

again

It brushes your fingers

But you miss

So close

The fog thickens

a wall around your heart

Smiles, laughter, joy

They beat at the door

But it’s locked

You shut out the world

They can’t get in

You lay on the floor

Crying in agony

If only you could reach the handle

let the warmth in

But it’s cold

You don’t have the energy

Ice hardens

You are trapped

Light fades into darkness

Motionless on the floor

Blackness surrounds you

but you march on

not feeling

A trapped voice screaming for help

but the cry fades

Hopeless

ignored

Trapped in a

lifeless

emotionless

robot
